How High Was It?

Some of my friends asked, how high really was the Kisaralik?  What does it mean to get "blown out".  These photos show it pretty dramatically.

The first shows the lower falls as we experienced it.  Note the point of the rock marked with an arrow, and the water level of the lower pool.

Now check out a photo I found on the web of the same spot, nearly the same camera angle, taken on a normal summer day.  The water is a good 2.5-3' lower.  Note also, how clear it is compared to the muddy gunk we got.

This is what it means to be "blown out".  Fish flee for cover so as not to be swept away by the flood.  And they stop feeding, in part because trout are visual feeders and can't really see their food.
